Chieng born 21 November 1985 non-primary source needed is a Malaysian comedian
and actor. Chieng is currently a senior correspondent for The Daily Show on
Comedy Central and creator and star of the sitcom Ronny Chieng International
Student which debuted on ABC (Australia) as well as Comedy Central Asia in
2017. Chieng was the son of a Malaysian Chinese family. He was born in Johor
Bahru. He grew up in both Singapore and the United States, living in
Manchester, New Hampshire from 1989 to 1994. Chieng appeared with Trevor Noah
at a Melbourne comedy festival in 2013. Chieng was then asked to take on the
role of correspondent on Noah's Daily Show two years later. In July of 2016
Chieng was named one of the top 10 comics you should Check out by Variety In
October of that year, Chieng appeared on The Daily Show to share his reaction
to a Jesse Watters Fox News segment thought to be racist by a large majority of
viewers. Chieng made expletive-laden comments concerning the segment of the Fox
News, a conservative network. He also returned to the city's Chinatown. Watters
had mocked the people living there and conducted interviews with respect in
Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese. The video was viewed by millions and received coverage
in the Washington Post and Slate In his early years, Chieng was a Singapore Sea
Scout. While he's been living in Australia for over 10 years, he does not
possess permanent residency or citizenship in Australia. Chieng laughed in 2018
when he said he was cynophobic, but afterwards, he said he was completely
unafraid of dogs.
