American actress Courtney Thorne Smith was born on the 8th of November, 1967. She is best known for her roles in Melrose Place as Alison Parker on Melrose Place, Georgia Thomas on Ally McBeal, Cheryl in According to Jim and her frequent role on Two and a Half Men as Lyndsey McElroy. Thorne-Smith was born in San Francisco, California, and grew up in Menlo Park, a suburb south of San Francisco. Walter Smith was her father and Lora Thorne was her mother. Both were computer market researchers. Courtney was just seven years old when her parents divorced. Courtney lived with both parents in different periods. She has a younger sister named Jennifer who works as an advertising executive. She attended Menlo-Atherton high school, in Atherton, California, and graduated from Tamalpais High School, in Mill Valley, California, in 1985. When she was in high school, she was a member with the Ensemble Theater Company of Mill Valley. Thorne Smith's first appearance in a movie was in the movie drama Lucas. She was joined by Winona Ryder (Corey Haim) and Charlie Sheen. In the mid-80s, she was also featured in a variety of films including Welcome to 18 (1986), Revenge of the Nerds II (Nerds in Paradise) (1987), Summer School (1987) and Side Out(90). In 1998, she was the star of the box-office chairman of the board, a failure, alongside Carrot Top. She also appeared in Sorority Wars in 2009. In the beginning of the 1990s, Thorne Smith dated Andrew Shue, her on-screen lover from Melrose Place. In June 2000, the actress married geneticist Andrew Conrad; the couple ended their relationship in January of 2001. Roger Fishman, the president of Zizo Group marketing and author of What I Know, was her husband. The couple welcomed Jacob Emerson Fishman on January 11, 2008, at 40 years old.
